Day by Day Travels

Sunday we woke up to a monsoon (well maybe it was just raining really hard!)  Breakfast at Pineapples on the grounds of Ramones was pretty decent, a buffet affair with fresh fruit and homemade omelettes.  After waiting for the rain to die down we decided to rent a golf cart and do some exploring.  We headed south of town towards the Caribbean Villa’s- we had stayed there for our honeymoon and were curious how things had changed.  We almost drove by the hotel as there is so much built up in the area we were looking for a more secluded spot, but there it was.  The main building is exactly as it was 20 years ago, but they now have a new building on the side, a pool (where there was previously a hot tub) and a pretty large dock with a bar on the end.  We found this spot prefect to order some coconut drink and sit back and reflect.  There was a massive water slide at the end of the dock too- the girls would have loved it.  After our morning refreshment we headed down island a little more to Mahogany Bay – a huge new development with a coffee place that was supposed to be good.  This development is beautiful, but not sure that it will be able to sustain all the store fronts they have built, it seems very expensive and very empty.  The coffee place turned out to be a dud, expensive and not impressive.  We headed back up north to the Crazy Canucks bar- we had spent many a night here 20 years ago.  Not sure anything has changed at this bar- even the bar stools look to be the same!  We had a sandwich some more refreshments and then the loud patrons yelling at the football game sent us off in search of somewhere else to enjoy the ocean view. We cruised around town and just took it all in- we just love this place.  An afternoon of relaxing was perfect food for the soul.  For dinner we walked up the beach a few feet to the Bluewater Cafe- a wonderful beachfront location cannot be beat.  We had lobster tails as the breeze washed over us- a perfect end to a perfect day.  Tropic Al’s at Ramones rounded off the evening with some nightcaps and listening to the lap of the ocean- aaaah this is the life.
