Barranco and home bound.

Friday was our last day in this amazing country- we saw so much, yet there is so much more to see. We had heard about Barranco- the hippie, artsy area of Lima. After a morning of packing, a late breakfast and finally checking out; we hailed a cab and took the 30 minute drive from Mira Flores to Barranco. We arrived at the main square and the search was on for lunch. The Barranco Beer Company presented itself and we obliged. The food was okay- I was still not eating much as I would like as I was not 100%. After lunch we found a local flea market, which was fun to explore. Wandering around the streets we saw all kinds of amazing street art and sculptures. We found the “bridge of sighs”, and then long walk down, across the highway and down the cliffs to the beach. Not sure we would actually swim in that water- but it was lovely to watch. We ended the day back a the main square, a coffee in hand watching all the people go by. This really is the bohemian part of town- so many backpackers too. It was getting close to sunset so we caught a taxi back to the hotel and gathered our bags. We all changed and got ourselves ready for the long flight home. So sad to leave. The cab ride was supposed to be one hour, but the traffic was so bad it took us 2 hours to get to the airport. We luckily had left early and had no issues checking in and finding the gate. We all took turns finding some dinner and then we waited for our late departure. Once on the plane we all slept the 8 hours to LAX. Thank you Peru – we loved every corner you had to show and will hopefully be back to explore the corners we didn’t see. Until next time.
