Day by Day Travels

We woke up Tuesday to another gorgeous day and decided to head north of town. We once again rented a golf cart and headed north. As you pass through town you get to a bridge- which was not there 20 years ago- you pay your 20BZ for a return pass and you are north of town. We decided to head to Secret Beach. What a drive- the road in a golf cart was insane- some puddles so big we were not sure we would get through them. Halfway there a part of the golf cart fell off- Frank rammed it back on and we hoped for the best! This entire area is just mangrove swamp- it seems hard to believe that there is anything out here. About 30 minutes into the ride we came to a T in the road- left or right?  There was no signage at all and we were just going to hazard a guess when another golf cart came in to view- left then! About 40 minutes later we arrived at the beach- nothing for 40 minutes and then bam a beach and bar set up for relaxing. We chilled and chatted with the server about World Cup Soccer teams. After a good while we headed back to town. The north side of Ambergris has really had a ton of development over the years, there are big hotels, small hotels and what looks like tons of places to eat. We came in from the north and were looking for a bite to eat. Our first stop was the Palapas Bar- the idea of sitting around in tubes in the ocean was appealing, but on seeing the actual floating area- there was no sun and looked chilly! Then we found Sandy Toes in an area just after the bridge which I believe is called Boca Del Rey,  and took up beach chairs in the ocean and nibbled on nachos. We made it back to Ramon’s for sunset and early drinks. We decided to eat at Mango’s again as the food was just that good. Another day in Paradise passed too quickly.
